Gestalt therapy focuses on the relationship between the client and the therapist. The Gestalt therapist works together with the client using what is happening between them in the here and now rather than what is being talked about. The emphasis is on what is being thought and felt at the present rather than what was, could or should be.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) focuses on the thinking that supports our behavior. Cognitive Therapy is employed in treatment to help clients recognize and change thinking patterns that are harmful or ineffective. CBT recognizes that people’s emotional reactions and behaviors are influenced by cognition. CBT also considers behavior as crucial in maintaining or in changing psychological states.
